Most Irish pubs in America are built by people who have never set foot in a real one. The Emerald Loop is different.
Janette Goodship was born in Scotland, raised in England, and time in Ireland before she ever thought about opening a bar. She did not research the authentic Irish pub experience — she grew up in one. The fireplace you warm yourself by, the pint poured just slowly enough, the way strangers become regulars and regulars become family — that is not something you can fake.
When Janette arrived in Bend, Oregon, she saw a city full of energy, full of people worth knowing, and a glaring gap: nowhere to go that felt like a proper local. Not a theme bar. Not a place decorated with shamrocks for tourists. A real neighborhood pub where the whiskey was Irish, the welcome was genuine, and nobody was in a rush.
That is The Emerald Loop.
We opened our doors at 1012 SE Cleveland Ave in southeast Bend because we wanted to serve the neighborhood — not the tourists. Our food is crafted with care: beer-battered fish and chips made the way they are meant to be, shepherd's pie with real Guinness gravy, and a weekend Irish breakfast worth waking up early for. Our whiskey list — 28 Irish labels — is the most authentic selection in Central Oregon.
We are family-friendly until 9pm, sports-obsessed on 13 screens, and unapologetically Irish every single day. Come in. Sit down. You will know within five minutes this is the place.
